Epiphany

The Apostle Paul said, “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened…” The simple idea is that people’s eyes of faith are opened to see something that they had not yet seen or realized before. This is the first Sunday of the year and is traditionally the first Sunday in the season of Epiphany. An epiphany experience is sometimes referred to as a ‘eureka’ or an ‘ah ha’ moment. In the Christian faith we understand that those times are given by God and used by God to draw us into a more intimate relationship with him. My hope and prayer for GNF in 2016 is that all who come may have such an experience and that we may grow in our understanding of who our God is and how much he loves us so that our epiphanies become normal, weekly experiences.
