PSALM 8

It was written as a simple song for temple worship to remind God’s people of how amazing God is and of how wildly crazy and incomprehensible his love for us truly is and that we are to celebrate the fact that he made us in his image to be co-creators. Jesus quotes this psalm when chastising the religious leaders for trying to silence the joyful celebration of the children the day he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and when the disciples are full of joy and wonder after the great success they experienced with power and healing. Exuberant celebration when overwhelmed by grace can silence our foe and avenger, the devil.
