This is our first parable of the year, so let&#8217;s review what a parable is. A parable is a teaching aid or a word picture that Jesus used to aid in His work here on earth. Jesus used things that were familiar to people at that time so that they could understand the lesson. An \u201cearthly story with heavenly meaning\u201d. \u00a0 If He were to tell a parable today it would probably be linked to technology since that\u2019s something WE\u2019RE familiar with.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Questions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Who do the sheep in this story represent?<\/li>\n<li>Who does the shepherd represent?<\/li>\n<li>How many sheep did the shepherd have in this story?<\/li>\n<li>Why did the shepherd look for his lost sheep?<\/li>\n<li>What did the shepherd do when he found the lost sheep?<\/li>\n<li>Why would God celebrate when he finds one of us who are lost?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Bonus Stuff<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This video helps us see why Jesus chose to use sheep in his story, rather than chickens or pigs.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Good Shepherd &amp; His Sheep\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Coq_grSFlNs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And this video is a song which was once commonly sung in children&#8217;s churches.
